On the nose and the palate
Nose
Opens with warm honeyed oak and dried fig, unfolding into toasted almond and a thread of orange zest. A faint coastal salinity lingers beneath.
Palate
Generous and composed — candied fruit and dark chocolate carried on a silken, oily texture, with sherry-cask spice gathering at the centre.
Finish
Long and unhurried, closing on bitter orange, soft smoke and a final note of polished oak that holds for minutes.
A whisky that asks for stillness, and rewards it.
From a single Speyside estate
Laid down in 1998 by a family distillery that has worked the same glen for five generations, this expression was filled into a single sherry-seasoned cask and quietly forgotten — left to the slow conversation between spirit, oak and Highland air.
When the cask was finally drawn, the master distiller chose not to blend it. What emerged was too singular to dilute: a whisky shaped entirely by one place, one season, and one quarter-century of patience.
Fewer than three hundred bottles were filled by hand, each numbered and sealed in wax. None will be made again.
